With all the fine dining restaurants we have in McLaren Vale, it is always great to have a few places to go to that offer simple but tasty casual food – sometimes that is all we need.

But for the wine lovers- there is no need to despair – Silver Sands and Aldinga Beach are still (at the edge) of the McLaren Vale wine region and the Silver Sands Beach Club does of course have a very extensive wine list, with local and regional wines to choose from.

The restaurant is a club – meaning it is a casual affair; you order and pay at the counter and the food offered is a reflection of that:

Think eggplant parmi, cheeseburger, pizza, fish and chips or a chicken Caesar saladas typical pub staple – but as said, sometimes that is all we need and, tucking into a burger, sitting outside at the weathered wooden tables on the lawn, with the smell of the ocean in the air and the sun slowing setting over the sea … that is instantly creating that holiday feeling.

Having said that, the inside of the restaurant (and the covered outside deck), with their nautical theme are actually very nice to sit back and relax - and you can indulge a bit more by enjoying dishes like house-made spaghetti with Goolwa pippies or a char-grilled garfish on spiced carrot puree. Our choice at our last visit and both were absolutely delicious.

In short- a great place to relax and catch up with friends – with food options for everyone.

The obvious thing to do as part of a visit to the Silver Sand Beach Club is to go on a long stroll along the beach – but for the wine lovers amongst you, combine it with a stop at Berg Herring Wines (on Sellicks Beach Road) – they are open from midday till 6pm (Thu-Mon) so great opportunity for last tasting stop, before heading to dinner at Silver Sands Beach Club.
